Opinion — the views expressed are the author's own.

7:00 AM — Wake up, immediately check 3 email accounts on my phone. Scroll through 40+ unread threads trying to figure out which ones are urgent. Miss one from a supplier — it costs me a week.

7:30 AM — Open my laptop. Try to remember what meetings I have today. Realize I double-booked a call with a partner and an internal review. Scramble to reschedule.

8:00 AM — Start doing actual work. Except the actual work is just putting out fires. By noon, I haven't done a single thing that moves the business forward.

That was my life. Running 4 companies but spending every morning on admin.

Here's what my mornings look like now:

7:00 AM — My phone buzzes. It's not an alarm — it's my AI sending today's briefing. 3 inboxes scanned. 14 threads summarized into 6 lines. 2 flagged urgent.

7:15 AM — I snap a photo of last night's receipt. The AI reads it, categorizes it, and logs it. Done.

7:30 AM — Portfolio alert. Something hit a threshold. The AI tells me what changed and what my options are. I decide in 10 seconds.

By 8:00 AM, I've processed what used to take me until noon.

The difference isn't talent. It's not discipline. It's a system I spent 3 months building — and it changed how I run everything.

The companies I run don't need me in the weeds anymore. They need me thinking clearly. That's what I got back.

What does your first hour of work look like? Honestly.
