The headline has been running for two years. "AI replaces Indian coders." "Outsourcing is dead." I read these articles too. They made a compelling case. Then I looked at the actual numbers.

TCS posted Rs 2.67 lakh crore in revenue last year. Up 4.6%. Infosys hit Rs 1.79 lakh crore. Up 9.6%, profit up 10.2%. Not exactly dying. But here's the number that matters most — TCS's AI services revenue crossed $2.3 billion in a single quarter. They're not being replaced by AI. They're selling AI.

The shift is fundamental. Five years ago, Indian IT meant "write our code cheaper." Today it means "build our AI infrastructure." India has 5.4 million tech workers. AI and ML hiring is up 40-50% year-on-year. MNCs increased their India hiring by 82% this year. Not to cut costs. To chase talent.

The companies still thinking "cheap labor" will be disrupted by the companies that already see India as AI talent headquarters.
